4 ingredients against cholesterol

One of the main causes of cardiovascular-related disease is atherosclerosis: an accumulation of fatty substances (especially cholesterol) on the inner walls of the arteries. The likelihood of developing a cardiovascular disease depends on a number of factors, referred to as risk factors, that may be non modifiable, such as age, gender and hereditariness, or modifiable such as smoking, hypertension, excessive weight, diabetes, high cholesterol and triglycerides. Prevention is therefore extremely important in order to keep our cardiovascular system healthy.

High cholesterol levels represent a significant threat to the health and well-being of our body; the cardiovascular risk can be reduced or maintained at a normal level by lowering or eliminating a single risk factor that can be changed by adopting a healthy lifestyle and, possibly, by taking natural remedies that help maintain normal blood cholesterol levels, such as NO-COLEST®.

Four functional plant ingredients are available for the well-being of our cardiovascular system.

Bergamot

Bergamot Citrus bergamia Risso, Rutaceae family, a very ancient plant rediscovered through the popular tradition of Calabria, is now one of Calabria's “treasures”, the world's biggest producer of Bergamot. By squeezing the fruit pulp, a juice with a distinct flavour is obtained, which is appreciated and used according to Calabrian tradition because of its precious nutritional and health promoting properties. Bergamot juice has many properties due to its unique composition.

Algal oil

Algal oil is an innovative natural source of fatty acids high in DHA content. It is obtained from farming in a sterile, controlled environment free from the contamination of iodine-free marine micro-algae. It is 100% pure and not subjected to any kind of manipulation; it does not have an unpleasant taste or smell and does not cause bothersome regurgitation. Since it is an oil produced from micro-algae grown in a controlled environment, it has constant DHA titration. Numerous studies have been conducted on the beneficial properties of DHA, which have confirmed its natural ability to contribute to the reduction of major cardiovascular risk factors, in particular triglycerides and platelet aggregation.

Fermented red rice

Fermented red rice, Monascus purpureus Went, generically known as Monascus ruber and belonging to the Monascaceaefamily (Ascomycotin), is traditionally obtained from the fermentation of rice boiled with Monascus purpureus yeast, which gives the rice grains its typical red colour.

It is effective thanks to the combined use of the different active ingredients contained in it:
• Mono- and polyunsaturated fatty acids;
• Phytosterols, isoflavones, glucosides and saponins;
• Proteins, amino acids, vitamins and minerals.
• Triterpenoid compounds, including monacolin K, the most important one that can also inhibit a fundamental enzyme for the synthesis of cholesterol.

Coenzyme Q10 (Co-Q10), also known as ubiquinone, is a very important antioxidant compound, contained at cellular level within the mitochondria and therefore involved in the production of energy.

It is found in particular concentrations at the cardiac level and its physiological levels tend to decrease with age and/or in the presence of cardiovascular disease such as hypertension and heart failure.

It is partly introduced with food, but is mainly synthesised by the body through the mevalonate pathway. In relation to this, scientific evidence shows that with statin therapy, levels of Co-Q10 are reduced and that the integration of Co-Q10 may be useful in helping to prevent or minimise any adverse effects.

Co-Q10 also helps to counteract oxidative damage, cellular ageing processes, damaged tissue and other phenomena related to age-related decline.

No-Colest Omegasol pearls can help you maintain normal cholesterol levels, thanks to the synergistic action of fermented red rice, concentrated bergamot juice, algal oil rich in omega 3, coenzyme Q10 and plant fibres.
